Dangerous Disciples
Romans 12: 1-2
1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
– NASB
Introduction
- What are you passionate about?
- What would it look like if you were really into being a disciple of Jesus?
- Do Satan and the demons of hell tremble because of you?
- The Bible tells of others who were dangerous disciples:
- Elijah,
- Esther,
- Mary & Joseph,
- Stephen
You know you are being a dangerous disciple when:
- When you live your life as a living sacrifice for Jesus. Put your self where God can use you.
- When you resist the pull of the world. Secrecy will either kill discipleship or discipleship will kill secrecy.
- When you obey and fulfill the Lord’s will for your life.
Understanding God’s will
- Knowing and doing the will of God is basically a mental ability.
- 3 crucial truths of Romans 12:1-2
- The will of God must be “proved” (examined, verified, and embraced).
- This is done by the Christian mind.
- For this to happen the mind must be renewed, ordinary human thinking will not be able to do this.
Steps to knowing the will of God
- Recognize you are in need of a deep renovation of the mind.
- Depend on the Holy Spirit.
- Pray for the Spirit to give you spiritual understanding.
- Focus your attention on the glory of God.
