Church Motto
First......that all may know Jesus.
This is the motto of First Baptist Dayton, TN
taken from 1 Timothy 2:3-5.
"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,"
From the Pastor:
FBC Dayton Family,
Paul and Silas were being imprisoned for preaching the gospel. The jailer was so impacted by Paul and Silas not running when the earthquake occurred that he said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Acts 16:31 “They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Verse 32 says they “Spoke the Word of the Lord to all who were in his house”.
Verse 33 says, he was immediately baptized, “he and all his household”.
Verse 34 says they, “rejoiced greatly having believed in God with his whole household”.
The Greek word used for house or household in this passage is “oikos”! It means in this context, “those persons that make up a family”!
Paul and Silas cared for the jailer and his “oikos”! He cared for his “oikos” enough that they heard and believed as well.
Who is in our “oikos”? Who makes up our family? Our first missionary responsibility is our families! Does your family know Jesus as both Lord and Savior?
Care enough to make the time to share the Gospel with them! Make sure they are your “oikos” for all eternity!
Pastor Bob Schafer
