Worship & Choir Director
Position Summary
We are seeking a spiritually mature, musically gifted, and people-oriented Bi-Vocational Worship & Choir Director to lead our music ministry. This individual will provide leadership for congregational worship, direct the choir, and help create a worship environment that glorifies God, engages the congregation, and supports the overall ministry of the church.
While musical excellence is important, we are equally seeking someone who can build relationships, encourage volunteers, and lead worship in a way that invites the congregation to participate wholeheartedly.
Primary Responsibilities
Worship Leadership
- Plan and lead worship services in cooperation with the Senior Pastor.
- Select music that aligns with the church's doctrine, vision, and sermon themes.
- Lead congregational singing with enthusiasm, authenticity, and spiritual sensitivity.
- Develop worship services that encourage active congregational participation.Choir Ministry
- Direct and develop the church choir.
- Schedule and conduct regular choir rehearsals.
- Select and prepare choir music for worship services and special events.
- Recruit, encourage, and mentor choir members.
- Music Ministry Development
- Work with instrumentalists, vocalists, and other music ministry volunteers.
- Assist in planning special worship services, holiday programs, and community outreach events.
- Encourage growth in musical excellence while maintaining a Christ-centered focus.
- Foster unity and spiritual growth within the music ministry.Congregational Engagement
- Build meaningful relationships with church members.
- Be visible, approachable, and encouraging to the congregation.
- Help create a welcoming atmosphere that draws people into worship.
- Serve as a positive representative of the church within the community.
Qualifications
Spiritual Qualifications
- A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.
- A life that demonstrates Christian character and spiritual maturity.
- Agreement with the church's statement of faith and ministry philosophy.
- A commitment to serving as a worship leader first and a musician second.Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Music, Church Music, Worship Ministry, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience directing choirs and leading congregational worship.
- Ability to read music and teach vocal parts.
- Experience working with volunteer musicians and singers.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.Personal Qualifications
- Relational and approachable personality.
- Ability to connect with multiple generations.
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to work alongside church leadership.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and teachable spirit.
Schedule & Compensation
This is a bi-vocational/part-time position.
Expected responsibilities include Sunday worship services, weekly rehearsals, ministry planning meetings, and special church events.
Compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, and ministry expectations.
