  • Church Motto

    First......that all may know Jesus.

This is the motto of First Baptist Dayton, TN

    taken from 1 Timothy 2:3-5.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,"

  • From the Pastor

With the start of a new year we are going to emphasize a few of the Christian disciplines that we all need to practice daily – prayer, Bible reading and sharing the Gospel with others. Whether it’s getting more out of your personal quiet time, praying for pastors, public servants and missionaries, or joining other churches in calling for spiritual awakening and revival, let God use your prayers to bring about transformation. You can make a kingdom impact through your faithful prayers.

We will present several options for all of us to get involved. One of those will be to join with a group of seven individuals who will covenant to pray daily for one another and the person for whom they have a special burden to see them come to know Jesus Christ as Lord of their life. Phillip Hise will share more about this soon.

Another opportunity is from the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board called “Pray4TN.” The idea is for Christian families to “adopt” their neighbors — each member of every household — and commit to praying for those families, by name, daily. Those who participate will be given a list of names in their neighborhood and will then begin praying. This will be promoted in church as we gather together each week, on social media, and in emails.

When we start praying for other people, God gives us unique opportunities and He equips us to share the gospel with them. We believe prayer changes the priorities of those doing the praying and in turn, it also changes the entire culture.
